Salmon upgrades payments backbone to support growing customer base

Manila, 18 August 2025 — Salmon Group Ltd today announced the completion of its proprietary in-house payment orchestration platform, which now powers transactions across its lending and savings products. The platform delivers 99.9% uptime and a 99% success rate on QR Ph payments, reflected in Salmon's 4.8 rating in both the App Store, with 15,000+ ratings, and Google Play, with 56,000+ ratings.
The infrastructure supports all transactions across Salmon — including loan repayments, deposits, and fund transfers — connecting to a wide network of local banks, e-wallets, and payment providers.
Unlike a standard payment gateway, the platform uses real-time routing, automatic fallbacks, and retries to maintain transaction reliability during network issues or downtime. It detects downtime or errors and switches instantly to alternative providers without any action from the customer, so payments "just work" with no need to retry or wait for resolution.
"In financial services, reliability is everything," said Raffy Montemayor, Co-founder of Salmon. "We've invested in building a platform that ensures payments are fast, secure, and seamless, whether they happen in-app or at a partner store. Our goal is simple: customers should never have to think twice about whether a payment will go through."
The platform's auto-debit capability is paired with advance reminders and multiple payment attempts, reducing missed payments while keeping customers informed at every step.
As one of the early adopters of QR Ph in the Philippines, Salmon offers both scan-to-pay and generate-QR options in-app, supporting the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' push for nationwide payment digitalization and driving repeat usage among customers.
To protect transactions, the system includes duplicate charge prevention, timeout handling, and ISO 20022-certified payment rails, which support data quality and reliability across channels.
Customers can pay through the Salmon app or via external partners such as e-wallets, banks, kiosks, and over-the-counter locations. Payments are reconciled automatically to the correct account.
Owning its payment infrastructure lets Salmon continuously optimize for customer experience and operational efficiency, Montemayor said, calling it part of how the company aims to scale responsibly while keeping trust at the center of its business.
The in-house platform enables faster, safer payments today and lays the groundwork for future product innovation, supporting Salmon's mission to provide inclusive, transparent, and reliable financial tools for the Philippines' emerging middle class.
