Salmon Bank (Rural Bank) doubles customer base and grows deposits 3.9 times in 2025

Manila, 17 March 2026 — Salmon Bank (Rural Bank) Inc. today reported that its customer base doubled in 2025, while total deposits grew 3.9 times over the year. Salmon Bank (Rural Bank) said the growth reflects rising customer confidence in its AI-enabled banking model.

The deposit growth supported a broader expansion of the balance sheet at Salmon Bank (Rural Bank). Its loan portfolio, made up of diversified, small-ticket retail loans, expanded 2.3 times over the year. Net interest margin reached 40%, above the average for rural, thrift, and digital banks in the Philippines. Total assets grew 2.3 times to ₱4.4 billion, while the gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio held steady at 2% — below the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) benchmark for rural banks.

Salmon Bank (Rural Bank) is also strengthening its capital base. The bank is raising its equity capital to ₱1.6 billion through a ₱400 million injection from its controlling shareholder, Salmon Group Ltd. The injection is expected to complete by April 2026, giving Salmon Bank (Rural Bank) headroom to expand its retail lending and deposit products.

"Our 2025 results reflect growing customer confidence, strong business results, and our commitment to responsible banking," said Raffy Montemayor, Co-founder of Salmon and Chairman of Salmon Bank (Rural Bank). "With our superior capitalization, we're well-positioned to continue our momentum of sustainable growth, as we deliver high-value, AI-enabled banking services that meet the evolving needs of Filipinos," he added.

To fund its growing portfolio of high-yield retail loans, Salmon Bank (Rural Bank) offers competitive time deposit rates. Depositors earn 6% p.a. on time deposits starting at ₱5,000, or up to 8% p.a. on deposits of ₱1 million or more.
